Cambridge Summer Music
Victoria Sayles - violin, Martin Cousin - piano
All Brahms
Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)
Sonata No1 in G major Op 78
Sonata No 2 in A major Op 100
Sonata No 3 in D minor Op 108
The three luscious Brahms Sonatas for violin and piano in one concert provide a stunning virtuoso vehicle for two very talented performers. Brahms’ sonatas are monumental works for both instruments, and the music shows the composer’s gift for expressive writing and wide varieties of mood and colour. An award-winning soloist and chamber musician, Victoria Sayles has performed with major orchestras and has been described as ‘an intelligent and very natural musician’ by the Royal College of Music’s Itshak Rashkovsky. Martin Cousin is now regarded as one of the most dynamic pianists of his generation; a gifted solo pianist as well as chamber musician.
